After installing Apache on my WindowsXP, I was able to access the default website from anywhere in my home. But I was not able to access my home server from outside. Here are few things I did to make it work:
1) Optain IP address:
I initially used ipconfig to get IP address: 198.168.0.9
1) Modify httpd.conf file to include:
Listen 80
ServerName 198.168.0.9
2) Modify your router firewall settings to forward access to homeserver to Port80
3) Make sure Windows default firewall was turned off
4) Temorarily turned off Mcaffee firewall as well
5) After doing these steps, I tried to access http://198.168.0.9/ from outside & it still did not work.
It turns out that 198.168.0.9 is only behind router inside my home. For visibility outside, I went to http://speedtest.net/ which shows IP address visible from outside. It was http://24.22.113.229/. Accessing this address worked without any problem

Problem: Windows installer keeps popping up on my computer
Problem:
Windows installer keeps trying to load a program (Front Page installer) which I don't have any more. No Disc, and the files cannot be found on my hard drive ( a .MSI file) I went to add/remove programs and get the same message.( Please insert disc named : blah, blah, blah!!) I don't have it!!!!
Everytime I open a program or go online or if the computer is just sitting Windows installer pops-up asking for the source disc or file. How can I stop this?
Solution:
I have been having the same problem in W2k. Go to the following URL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. Download Windows Install Cleanup. It will list all programs that use Windows Installer. Select from the list those programs for which you are getting the Windows Installation popup. Click remove, and then reinstall the same programs (if you still want to use them). The Remove button does not remove the program. It removes the install configuration, but you still have to reinstall. It worked for me! Good luck!

Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc error
The other day I ran into Word problem with opening .doc files. You may receive the following error:
You may experience mail merge issues write files are parsed but no message is shown.
To resolve this issue, an affected user can unregister the mswrd632 converter by editing the registry as follows:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
You can also fix this issue with applying the registry fix, but that is a less secure way according to Microsoft, as this fix actually creates 'AllowConversion' key in the new 'Wordpad' subfolder. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad)
Download REG fix
There is another way to solve this issue by copying the MSWrd632.wpc file from another computer that doesn't have this issue. Make sure that this file comes from a trusted source on your network. This file can be found on the following path:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv
UPDATE: Above fix was not helpful to some of our readers, so Thomas Lewis offered another suggestion which should help.
Go to Tools > Options > General (Tab) in Word 2003
And check “Confirm Conversion at Open”
When you next try to open the document it will prompt you with a list to convert from. Choose Word 2007 and your document will open.
Have in mind that you will have to unregister mswrd632 first, which is noted above, before you make this changes.
Word cannot start the converter mswrd632.wpc
This error is cause because of f the security update for Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows Server 2003 on December 8, 2009.You may experience mail merge issues write files are parsed but no message is shown.
To resolve this issue, an affected user can unregister the mswrd632 converter by editing the registry as follows:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text Converters\Import\MSWord6.wpc -- use "find" option
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Click Yes.
Exit Registry Editor.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text Converters\Import\MSWord6.wpc -- use "find" option
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
Click Yes.
Exit Registry Editor.
NOTE: For x64 systems above path is slightly changed: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad
This change will effectively unregister the converter and disable it for third-party applications and for Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office will use its own text converters to open these kinds of files. You can also fix this issue with applying the registry fix, but that is a less secure way according to Microsoft, as this fix actually creates 'AllowConversion' key in the new 'Wordpad' subfolder.
